The last few years have seen a decrease in the number of plastic appliance as stainless steel appliances have become more popular. At the same time as this shift occurred there has also been a movement towards high Wattage appliances, particularly in Western European countries where 13A can be drawn from the mains supply. High wattage, e.g. 3kw, metal appliances of normal construction are invariably noisy, and can often lead to returns. The patented Strix stealth system addresses this issue.

The Stealth system consists of a specially formulated coating, co-developed with a global coatings supplier, combined with a “disruptor” ring mounted just above the conventional concealed heater. A 3kw concealed appliance fitted with the stealth system is designed to be as quiet as a 2.2kw immersed element appliance by providing a 10dB noise reduction when new and 5dB reduction when scaled, in comparison to a non coated appliance.
