STRIX P72 Low Profile Cordless System
Features/Benefits:
  • Innovative 360º interface requires no angular orientation of the appliance by the user
  • Low profile form removes an unsightly 'cordless hump'
  • Unobtrusive design allows industrial designers more creative freedom
  • Shutterless design allows fewer moving parts and simplified cleaning
  • Low upthrust forces allow low mass appliance design
Functional Description:
The interface consists of a male contact housing and a female adaptor which are both cylindrical in shape. The leading edge of both components are conical in shape to allow them to centralise prior to electrical connections being made. The adaptor consists of a flame retardant moulding containing two concentric rings of copper and brass, and a central copper pin. The protruding central pin being the line of contact, the neutral copper contact being the inner protruding hollow cylinder, and finally the brass earth being the outer cylinder. All three contacts terminate the upper surface of the adaptor in a male tab (4.8mm x 0.5mm). Flying leads are used to connect to the appliance. The contact housing mates with the adaptor and forms a snug fit. The line pin and neutral ring pass through recesses in the contact housing and connect with silver contacted leaf springs. The earth contact is made by a leaf spring end formed to protrude through the side of the contact housing and connecting with the earth ring on the adaptor. All three high quality conductors terminate in male tabs (4.8mm x 0.5mm) at the base of the contact housing. The contact housing has been specifically designed to prevent ingress of water, however special drainage paths ensure creepage and clearance paths cannot be bridged.
Installation:
Both the adaptor and contact housing are designed to be held positively between the upper and lower parts of the appliance base and power base respectively. Prior to assembly of either the adaptor or contact housing care must be taken to ensure the connecting leads are not under strain or trapped by any part of the appliance.
