Tynwald Day is the Isle of Mans' National Holiday on which ancient
parliament "the Tynwald", meet to proclaim the laws of the country.
This year, in her capacity as "Lord Of Mann", H.M. the Queen officiated
at the ceremony which was followed by presentations by local associations
and major industries that represent the Island on an international stage.
Mike Scott represented STRIX at the event, demonstrating our products,
their applications in kettles, coffee makers and water filters, and
explained the important work we carry out on the Island in design
and product development to establish STRIX as the world leader with
over 70% market share. Both the Queen and Prince Phillip spent some
considerable time with Mike who explained to them our product range, the
evolution of kettles from immersed to concealed elements and how STRIX had
developed this product category and market from what was traditionally
a British Commonwealth product into a World product.
The Queen was particularly interested in our move into water filters and
Mike explained to her how these products had been designed for cold water
and in kettle applications, and described the additional utility this
brings to a kettle in producing clean water and reducing scale formation.
Both the Queen and Prince Phillip were impressed by the fact that STRIX
had won four Queens Awards, Mike had taken the actual awards along for
general display as they are very rarely seen by the general public
and graphically demonstrate the company's achievements and are something
to be proud of.
